Tiger Woods has taken a two-stroke lead after the second round of action at the Northwestern Mutual World Challenge.

The world number one struck a 10-under-par 62 to wrestle the top position in the leaderboard from Zach Johnson, hitting 10 birdies to finish 11-under overall at the halfway stage of the tournament.

Johnson slipped to second on day two and is now on nine-under par, while Matt Kuchar is on eight-under in third place.

England's Ian Poulter will head into the third round on Saturday tied for eighth position, while his compatriot Lee Westwood is tied for 13th on five-over.

Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy is a shot behind Westwood in 16th place.
