Bernie Ecclestone: 'We're looking at California Grand Prix'

Bernie Ecclestone says that he is considering staging a Formula 1 race in California in an attempt to improve the sport's popularity in the United States.

Formula 1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone has said that he is looking at the possibility of staging a grand prix in California.

Ecclestone has previously stated that he wants to increase F1's popularity in the United States and could add a second race in the country to the season's calendar.

"We're having a look to see what's possible," Ecclestone told Sky Sports News.

"Basically I think we're going to have to go California way."

The United States Grand Prix is due to take place this weekend but has been disrupted by thunderstorms.
