Max Verstappen given five-place grid penalty for Monaco crash

Monaco Grand Prix race stewards hand Max Verstappen a five-place grid penalty for the Canadian Grand Prix.

Toro Rosso driver Max Verstappen has been handed a five-place grid penalty for the Canadian Grand Prix, after a crash in Monaco yesterday.

The Dutchman skidded into the back of Lotus driver Romain Grosjean towards the end of the famous race, as he lined up an overtaking move in the battle for 10th place.

Verstappen later blamed Grosjean for braking too early, but the race stewards have decided that he was at fault.

As well as a grid penalty for the next race in Canada, the 17-year-old has been given two points on his super licence.

Nico Rosberg went on to win the race, ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton.
