Sebastian Vettel thanks rain for podium finish at British Grand Prix

Sebastian Vettel admits that he has the rain to thank for his third-placed finish at the British Grand Prix.

Sebastian Vettel has admitted that the rain helped him to achieve a third-placed finish at the British Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg secured a Mercedes one-two on Sunday following a dramatic race at Silverstone.

Vettel was struggling in his Ferrari before the arrival of rain allowed him to regroup and work his way back through the field to record a sixth podium finish of the season.

"Without the rain we would not be on the podium. We kept our head down and were patient enough until the rain poured down," the German told reporters. "That is England for you. We made the right choices and the team did a great job."

The Formula 1 season gets back underway later this month with the Hungarian Grand Prix.
