The Match

Preview

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between West Ham United Women and Tottenham Hotspur Ladies, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Tottenham Hotspur Ladies head into the weekend in fourth position after only suffering one defeat in the league this season, and they will look to continue their excellent form, when they travel to play West Ham United Women on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Hammers have proved a tough team to beat of late, and they enter the weekend with only one defeat in their previous eight competitive fixtures.

Match preview

West Ham are in seventh position after a steady start to the season, but they do enter the fixture without a win in their last three league games. Olli Harder would have been disappointed that his side did not hold on to win last week after surrendering a two-goal lead against Reading. Lisa Evans and Grace Fisk grabbed a goal apeice, but an own goal from Abbey Stringer gave Reading hope and the Royals snatched a point when Emma Harries scored in stoppage time. After that disappointing result, the Hammers responded in midweek when they thrashed Birmingham City 4-0 in the League Cup, with Claudia Walker, Lucy Parker and Katerina Svitkova all scoring following Lucy Quinn's unfortunate own goal. The hosts have been a tough team to break down on home turf with their four home games this season resulting in one win and three draws. Tottenham have had a promising start to the season, and they head into the weekend just a point adrift of the Champions League qualification places. Last weekend, Spurs proved that they can compete with the very best in England when they claimed a point in the North London Derby courtesy of a 1-1 draw. Rachel Williams grabbed the opener for Tottenham, but they were denied a momentous victory when Arsenal's Vivianne Miedema scored in stoppage time to ensure the encounter ended all square. They followed that victory with a superb performance in the League Cup on Wednesday, with Rehanne Skinner's side thumping Watford 11-0. Rosella Ayane and Angela Addison both scored hat-tricks against Watford to ensure that Spurs head into the weekend full of confidence.

Team News

West Ham are still without Adriana Leon, who is recovering from foot surgery, while Maisy Barker is also expected to miss Sunday's game. Walker is the only West Ham player to have scored more than one league goal this season, and the forward will aim to add to her two goals when she leads the line on Sunday. Svitkova will head into the weekend in a confident mood after scoring her first goal of the season in the League Cup against Birmingham. Tottenham will be hoping that Williams can continue her fine goalscoring form, with the forward top scoring in the league for Spurs after scoring three goals this season. Despite scoring hat-tricks in midweek, Addison and Ayane are likely to drop to the bench for Sunday's encounter. West Ham United Women possible starting lineup: Arnold; Cissoko, Flaherty, Parker; Svitkova, Yallop, Fisk, Evans; Hasegawa, Stringer, Walker Tottenham Hotspur Ladies possible starting lineup: Korpela; Neville, Bartrip, Zadorsky, Harrop; Percival, Clemaron, Graham; Ubogagu, Simon, Williams
