Gareth McAuley: 'West Bromwich Albion need new arrivals'

Gareth McAuley believes that West Bromwich Albion do need to be active in the January transfer window.

Gareth McAuley has urged the club to enter the transfer market to give the West Bromwich Albion squad a boost in the second half of the season.

The Baggies have won both of their games since Tony Pulis arrived at The Hawthorns to replace Alan Irvine as head coach, and McAuley is certain that his new manager is eager to bring in new recruits this month.

"We would definitely welcome that. Everybody wants the best for the club and we need help," the defender told the Birmingham Mail.

"We need players there to make us better and if the gaffer feels that needs to happen everybody will be fully supportive of it. Hopefully we can get bodies through the door and the sooner the better because games are coming thick and fast."

Reports have suggested that West Brom, whose next test will come against Everton on Monday night, are interested in signing Blackburn Rovers striker Rudy Gestede.
