Good evening and welcome to Sports Mole's live coverage of the final hours of the summer transfer window.

As has become the tradition, there are expected to be a number of last-minute deals as managers decide to let a player go or accept an offer that's just that bit too good.

Highlights in recent memory of extraordinary late transfers include Fernando Torres to Chelsea, Robinho to Manchester City, Andy Carroll to Liverpool, Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United and Wayne Rooney to Manchester United.

Among the last-minute deals, Torino signed midfielder Valter Birsa on loan from Genoa and Marko Bakic and Alessandro Agostino on permanent contracts, Sassuolo welcomed back Richmond Boakye on loan from Juventus, Pescara acquired Francesco Modesto from Parma on loan and Leonardo Malazzi left Danubio for Genoa on loan.

23.58These are the five players Manchester City signed on deadline day: Scott Sinclair, Richard Wright, Maicon, Matija Nastasic and Javi Garcia. The Premier League champions have just got stronger.

23.55Christian Benteke talks about his move to Aston Villa from Genk: "Villa are a very historic club and my colleagues on international duty have said good things about English football. I know Darren Bent is a great striker and I want to play with him and work hard for the team."

23.50It has finally happened! Manchester City have signed midfielder Javi Garcia from Benfica for £16m on the final day of the summer transfer window!

23.45Striker Nicky Maynard has left West Ham United for Cardiff City for an undisclosed fee.

23.43Former Portsmouth striker Dave Kitson has signed a contract with Sheffield United until December 31.

23.41Stoke City have signed midfielder Steven N'Zonzi from Blackburn Rovers.

23.29Carlos Bocanegra speaks on his loan move to Racing Santander from Rangers: "I really enjoy it here at Rangers, but this is mutually beneficial for both parties. I'm excited to get the opportunity to play in Spain, but I'm also excited it's only a loan because I get to come back. I enjoy it here, and I was lucky enough to be club captain. But that's football, these things happen. I've got to get on with it."

23.27Sheffield Wednesday have signed defender Martin Taylor from Watford on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

23.24Fulham have signed winger Ashkan Dejagah from Wolfsburg on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

23.20We are still waiting to hear on Benfica midfielder Javi Garcia?s move to to Manchester City and Tottenham?s deal with Porto over the transfer of Joao Moutinho. Even though it is past 11pm, it could be a case of the clubs not making it official on their respective websites.

23.16Northern Ireland defender Ryan McGivern has joined Hibernian on loan from Manchester City until January.

23.14Meanwhile, Lassana Diarra is set to leave Real Madrid to join Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala.

23.11In another major signing, Real Madrid have recruited midfielder Michael Essien on loan from Chelsea for the remainder of the 2012-13 season.

23.08What an amazing turn of events in the Dempsey transfer saga! The player was keen to join Liverpool, who were holding talks with Fulham until this evening, only for the USA international to end up at Tottenham.

23.05This was done before the 11pm deadline, but news has just come in. Clint Dempsey has officially joined Tottenham Hotspur from Fulham on a three-year contract said to worth ?6m.

I think everything is okay for the future of Tottenham, we have great players in the team and a great coach and everything is alright and in place to get to the Champions League next year. I think we have to prove ourselves on the pitch and I'm here because I believe in, and am ready to give my best for, the team and also the fans."

22.45Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has just tweeted: "All the best to Nathan Eccleston. I know he will do well. Top player, top man!"

22.43Blackpool have signed 21-year-old striker Nathan Delfouneso on a season-long loan deal from Aston Villa and 21-year-old Nathan Eccleston on a permanent contract from Liverpool.

22.34Tom Huddlestone could leave Tottenham tonight, according to Sky Sports.

22.12Brighton have signed striker Stephen Dobbie from Swansea City on a three-year contract. The transfer fee has not been disclosed.

22.07This is Lyon?s official statement on the departure of Lloris to Tottenham: ?Olympique Lyonnais confirm the transfer of Hugo Lloris to Spurs. Lloris has signed a four-year contract with the team for a fee that could rise to a total of ?15 million (�11.9m) with an initial payment of ?10m (�7.9m). Olympique Lyonnais would like to thank the player for his qualities which made him the captain of France and one of the best goalkeepers in the world and his rapport with the whole organisation and the supporters.?

22.05Tottenham Hotspur have signed Hugo Lloris from Lyon for �8m on a four-year contract. Spurs finally bag the goalkeeper they have been longing for all summer.

21.56West Bromwich Albion have signed Dynamo Kiev's Macedonia international left-back Goran Popov on a season-long loan deal.

21.52Westwood after his move to Villa: "I see myself as a Michael Carrick-type of player, someone who stays out of the limelight and keeps it simple, retaining the ball and laying it off to team-mates. From the conversations I've had with the new manager (Paul Lambert) I think that I will fit in perfectly here. He said to me that he's looking for younger lads to work with him, step up and lift this club to the next level and I'm really looking forward to the challenge."

21.49Aston Villa have signed Ashley Westwood from Crewe.

21.47Everton have signed 17-year-old winger Matthew Kennedy from Kilmarnock.

21.45Fulham attacker Clint Dempsey has arrived at White Hart Lane for talks over a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

21.40It is all over at Stade Louis II as Atletico Madrid have defeated Chelsea 4-1 to win the UEFA Super Cup. Radamel Falcao scored a hat-trick for the Spanish club.

21.35According to latest reports, Real Madrid want to sign Michael Essien from Chelsea on loan.

21.31Southampton have confirmed that 19-year-old American goalkeeper Cody Cropper has signed a permanent deal with them.

21.27According to the BBC, Stoke City have said that there was no contact with Michael Owen today.

8.55West Ham United have failed to sign Joe Cole from Liverpool and are now trying for Yossi Benayoun, according to Goal.com.

8.52Bryan Oviedo on his move to Everton: ?I am so very happy. This is a very good opportunity for me. The last two or three days have been very stressful and tiring but I am so happy now. I am feeling good and right now everything is positive. I know a lot about Everton. I watch Everton games and Premier League games on the TV and it is a very good league."

8.50Ibrahim Afellay speaks on his loan move from Barcelona to Schalke: "When you recover from an injury you must play again as soon as possible, and that's what I'll do now at Schalke. There was no point staying stagnant [at Barcelona]. I have not played much at Barcelona and this season I was told that I was going to have wait to play. It was agreed with the coach (Tito Vilanova) that a transfer would be the best option. I have good feelings [about the loan move].".

8.40Anzhi Makhachkala are holding talks with Real Madrid over the transfer of midfielder Lassana Diarra, according to the AS.

8.37According to the BBC, Liverpool?s deal with Fulham over the signing of Clint Dempsey could collapse.

8.25Back to England now, and Blackburn Rovers have just signed goalkeeper Grzegorz Sandomierski on a season-long loan deal from Genk.

8.22In France, Lille have signed attacker Ryan Mendes from Le Havre.

8.20New Fulham signing Dimitar Berbatov is delighted with his move from Manchester United and said, "I will fit in pretty quickly, I think. (While speaking about manager Martin Jol) Sometimes in life when you meet someone you know straightaway you will work well with them. Let's hope this will happen again. I am a football player so I need to do whatever the manager wants from me. But I like playing football, so hopefully the manager will like me."

8.17According to the BBC, Joe Cole will stay at Liverpool and fight for his place in the team. There were various enquiries but no offers or realistic deals were presented.

8.15Barnet have signed Wales Under-21 international defender David Stephens on a free transfer.

7.14Southampton have finally reached an agreement with Italian club Bologna to sign Uruguayan midfielder Gaston Ramirez. This has been on-and-off for days!
