Montreal Impact boss Nick De Santis confirms that he would like to sign Michael Ballack on a free transfer.

Montreal Impact general manager Nick De Santis has revealed that he is interested in signing Michael Ballack this summer.

The veteran midfielder will be a free agent when his contract with German club Bayer Leverkusen expires at the end of the current season.

Discussing Ballack's potential arrival, De Santis believes that the 35-year-old would have a positive impact on his side.

"When you talk about Michael Ballack, you're talking about a centre midfielder that has great character and experience," De Santis told Goal.com. "Of course, when you speak of players of that calibre, there's obviously an interest.

"These are conversations that we are open to and have had already. Now, it's just moving it along."

Impact currently play in the MLS.
