Lyon reportedly decide against re-signing Tottenham Hotspur loanee Tanguy Ndombele on a permanent deal this summer.

Lyon are reportedly not prepared to exercise their option to sign Tanguy Ndombele from Tottenham Hotspur permanently this summer.

The Lilywhites' most expensive signing has consistently struggled to make an impact at the North London club and returned to Les Gones for the remainder of the 2021-22 season in January.

Ndombele has scored one goal and set up two more in nine appearances back at Lyon so far, and Peter Bosz's side are understood to possess a buy option of £54m - the same fee that Tottenham coughed up for his services in 2019.

However, the Evening Standard claims that Lyon have decided against paying Ndombele's clause, and the 25-year-old is therefore expecting to return to Tottenham for the 2022-23 season.

The report adds that Ndombele is not in the plans of Spurs' manager Antonio Conte, but he is hopeful that other clubs will take notice if he ends the season strongly with Lyon.

Ndombele has registered 10 goals and nine assists in 91 appearances for Spurs across all competitions and remains under contract in the English capital until 2025.
