Sigurdsson impressed with Spurs desire

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has admitted that he has been impressed with the ambition to win trophies at White Hart Lane.

Sigurdsson joined Spurs in the summer, turning down a number of offers from other Premier League clubs including a reunion with Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool.

The Icelandic playmaker told talkSPORT that he has no regrets over choosing to play for Andre Villas-Boas.

He said: "The ambition of the club is very high and things going on inside the club are great.

"The club finished fourth last season and they are aiming higher this season. It's a great club so it wasn't a hard decision.

"The club wants to win trophies and the Euopra League is a great trophy. The manager has won it before with Porto and the squad want to do well in it, so we want to win it."

Sigurdsson has been named in the Spurs squad to travel to Old Trafford for tomorrow evening's match against Manchester United.
