Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jake Livermore has praised Scott Parker for helping him to become a better player.
Parker was appointed as the club captain following his move from West Ham United last summer, and Livermore believes that, despite adding competition to the midfield places, the move has been a good one for everyone concerned.
"Obviously Scott coming here added competition, however, I think it's made me a better player, staying here, learning from him and playing alongside him," said the 22-year-old.
"He's taught me all about the timing of closing down, the timing of pressing and when to sit off and get into a shape.
"They're little things you pick up on, little things that perhaps you can't put your finger on and explain, but training with him and all the other players as well, day-in day-out, is the best education possible."
Despite the increased competition for midfield places at the club, Livermore made 38 appearances for Spurs last season.
