Former Tottenham Hotspur star Ossie Ardiles claims that Spurs could mount a title challenge if they secure the services of Roberto Soldado.

Former Tottenham Hotspur star Ossie Ardiles has declared that the club can mount a title challenge during the forthcoming season.

The Argentine believes that Spurs may be capable of competing with Chelsea and the two Manchester clubs in the Premier League should they be successful in their pursuit of striker Roberto Soldado.

"Our midfield is going to be absolutely great. We have Sandro, [Mousa] Dembele, Paulinho, another great, great player, and [Gareth] Bale. With Soldado and somebody else up front we are going to have a very powerful squad," he told talkSPORT.

"Is it good enough to challenge the three big guys that are going to be challenging for the title? I don't know, but we will be very, very close."

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has added Brazilian midfielder Paulinho and Belgian winger Nacer Chadli to his squad this summer.
