Midfielder on the naughty step: Tottenham injury and suspension news for Leicester

Hoping to subject newly-promoted Leicester City to a rude awakening, Tottenham Hotspur head to the King Power Stadium to tackle the Foxes in Monday's Premier League opener.

Ange Postecoglou prepares for his second season in charge after guiding Spurs back into European football with a fifth-placed finish last term, seeing them punch their ticket to the Europa League league phase.

Tottenham fell short in their bid to breach the top four, although a handful of fans were only too happy to witness their side's Champions League dreams crash and burn against Manchester City, who pipped Spurs' bitter rivals Arsenal to the title.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Tottenham's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Leicester, who won the Championship last season but are now under new management in the shape of Steve Cooper.

Richarlison

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Calf Possible return date: August 19 (vs. Leicester)

Richarlison did not play a single minute of pre-season football for Tottenham in the summer due to his troublesome calf, and even though he is back in training ahead of Monday's game, a full debut surely awaits new signing Dominic Solanke.

Fraser Forster

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Foot Possible return date: August 19 (vs. Leicester)

Fraser Forster was initially only supposed to be out for a couple of months with a foot fracture, but he has now been sidelined for half a year. The experienced goalkeeper is training too, but Guglielmo Vicario was always going to start on Monday regardless.

TOTTENHAM'S SUSPENSION LIST

Yves Bissouma

Return date: August 24 (vs. Everton)

Key midfielder Yves Bissouma landed himself in hot water with the club when he filmed himself inhaling laughing gas, and he has been banned for Monday's match by Postecoglou, but his internal suspension is not expected to exceed one game.
