Report: Liverpool close in on Sadio Mane

Liverpool are reportedly close to signing Southampton attacker Sadio Mane.

The 24-year-old joined the Saints from Red Bull Salzburg in 2014 and has scored 25 times in 75 appearances for the English club, including 15 in 43 matches during the 2015-16 campaign.

Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move for the Senegal international, but according to The Sun, Liverpool are confident of landing the player before the end of the month.

It had been reported that Southampton wanted £40m for Mane, but Liverpool are believed to be offering in the region of £25m.

Mane signed a four-year contract with Southampton upon joining the club for a figure in the region of £12m.
