Jos Hooiveld hints at Southampton exit

Southampton defender Jos Hooiveld admits that he could be forced to leave the club in the summer.

Southampton defender Jos Hooiveld has suggested that he could leave the club at the end of the season.

The 30-year-old Dutchman has made just eight appearances in all competitions for the Saints during the current campaign.

Hooiveld now admits that he might be forced to move elsewhere in the summer in order to get more first-team football.

"I considered leaving during the January transfer window but the manager told me it wasn't possible," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "But I will sit down at the table with him to discuss it once more during the summer.

"I'm in the squad for every game, but it will be very hard for me to get back into the starting 11 and I am hugely disappointed. There are two other players ahead of me in the pecking order."

Hooiveld joined Southampton from Celtic in 2011.
