Nigel Adkins, Andy Williams win League One monthly awards

Nigel Adkins has been named the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month for December.

The 50-year-old's Sheffield United only played three times, but they won on each occasion and conceded just one goal to move them back into promotion contention.

"On behalf of the players, staff and all at Sheffield United FC, I'd like to thank Sky Bet and the Football League for this Manager of the Month award. It is in recognition of our winning football during the month of December," said Adkins.

Meanwhile, the award for December's most impressive player has been won by Andy Williams.

The Doncaster Rovers attacker found the net four times - a haul which included a memorable strike against Oldham Athletic.

"To win this award is really pleasing, I'm delighted with it and with my form over the Christmas period," he said.

Williams's contribution helped to move Rovers into the top half of the table.
