Dawson injury not as bad as first feared

Scunthorpe United boss Brian Laws has played down suggestions that Andy Dawson could miss the start of next season with a leg injury.

It had been feared that the 34-year-old could miss up to a month following the clash in the 3-0 win over Grimsby Town at the weekend, but Laws has quelled such claims.

He told the club's official website: "It did look quite bad at first, their player seemed to catch him quite heavily in the thigh.

"Early diagnosis seems to indicate a haematoma and the area is already quite swollen.

"But that is a good sign believe it or not, we think it should be about a week, luckily for us we have that."

Dawson joined Scunthorpe as a player-coach in the summer.
