Roma have reportedly moved a step closer to tying Alessandro Florenzi down to a new contract.
It was confirmed that Florenzi's representatives had started talks with the clubs a couple of months ago, but there were fears that the midfielder could be targeted in the January transfer window due to a lack of progress.
However, Sky Sport Italia claims that the 23-year-old will sign an improved deal worth close to £1.6m a year, and Roma are hoping to make the announcement within the next week.
Florenzi, who has won seven caps for Italy, has made 25 appearances this season, scoring twice.
