Daniele De Rossi wants release clause

Daniele De Rossi will only sign a new contract with AS Roma if a release clause is inserted into the terms, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The midfielder's current deal expires in the summer and Manchester City have been linked with a free transfer.

However, Roma are keen to keep hold of the 28-year-old and are believed to have offered him an annual salary of £4.5m.

De Rossi would reportedly prefer to remain in the Italian capital, but is adamant that he wants an option to leave in case the Giallorossi fail to qualify for the Champions League.
