Preview:Rangers vs. Queen of the South

Rangers will go in search of their fifth consecutive win in all competitions on Saturday when they host Queen of the South in Scottish Championship action.

Ally McCoist's side went through last season unbeaten, but have already suffered defeat this term and face a fight to complete their journey back to the top flight.

Edinburgh duo Hearts and Hibernian also have promotion ambitions, while their opponents this weekend have started brightly.

Queen of the South have won two and drawn one of their opening three games and will be optimistic of darkening the mood in Glasgow football even further after Celtic's disappointing Champions League exit.

The Doonhamers may name a similar side to the one that lost their Scottish League Cup tie to Livingston courtesy of a 119th-minute goal on Tuesday, but Jim McIntyre has options available if he wants to introduce fresh legs.

Derek Lyle and Daniel Carmichael could be recalled, with Ian Mcshane injured and James Fowler suspended. Gavin Reilly faces a late fitness test, while Lewis Kidd is likely to be dropped to the bench.

McCoist should bring David Templeton back into the fold after the winger was rested from the starting XI that cruised past Dumbarton on cup duty. Nicky Law will compete for a place in midfield with Ian Black.

Former Scotland international Kenny Miller is not expected to be fit to resume his strike partnership with Kris Boyd as Rangers attempt to extend their 59-year unbeaten run against Queen of the South.
