Ex-England striker Alan Shearer unlikely to return to management

Alan Shearer says that he is unlikely to return to management following a brief coaching stint at Newcastle United in 2009.

Former England international Alan Shearer has admitted that he is unlikely to return to management in the future.

The 43-year-old, who is a regular fixture on the BBC's Match of the Day, had a brief stint in 2009 as Newcastle United boss, but has insisted that he would prefer to continue working as a pundit.

"I love my job and know I'm lucky to have it," Shearer told BBC Newcastle. "Could I see myself returning to management? Probably not."

Shearer failed to save the Magpies from relegation in the eight games that he was in charge.
