Alex McLeish to become new manager of Egyptian club Zamalek

Former Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish agrees to take over at Egyptian side Zamalek.

Former Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has agreed to become the new manager of Egyptian club Zamalek.

The Scotsman, who has been out of work since leaving Genk after one season last summer, will replace former Tottenham Hotspur striker Mido, who was relieved of his duties a fortnight ago.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Murtaza Mansour, chairman of the club, has confirmed that Alex McLeish has signed with him in principle to lead the first team."

McLeish, who has previously coached Nottingham Forest and the Scotland national team, will take over a club that is currently second in the Egyptian Premier League.
