Diego Maradona claims that Pele is "confused" after suggesting that Neymar is better than Lionel Messi.

Diego Maradona has said that Pele is "confused" following the Brazilian's suggestion that countryman Neymar is a better football player than Lionel Messi.

Maradona, 51, joked that Pele must have taken the "wrong pill" after his rival's controversial claim that the Santos striker is "better" and "more complete" than the current FIFA Ballon d'Or winner and Barcelona forward.

"He took the wrong pill," Maradona told reporters. "Instead of taking the pill for before bedtime, he took his morning pill.

"He got confused and he doesn't know what he's saying... I suggest that next time he takes the right medication before he starts to speak, and that he changes his doctor."

Maradona, who was allowed to leave his post as Argentina national team coach after the 2010 World Cup, took over as the manager of UAE outfit Al Wasl in the summer.
