Former Manchester United and Barnsley goalkeeper Luke Steele has described the decision to suspend professional football in Greece as "ridiculous".
The Greek government announced the ban after violence at Sunday's league match between Panathinaikos, where the 30-year-old stopper now plays, and Olympiacos.
Greens fans welcomed the visitors with a barrage of flares, while Olympiacos president Vangelis Marinakis was targeted with objects.
Steele tweeted: "Don't be so ridiculous suspending any matches. It's total nonsense and won't solve a thing. The heart and effort from all players is the key."
The suspension was initially indefinite, but was then downgraded to one week.
