Douillet becomes new French Sports Minister

Double Olympic judo champion David Douillet has been named as France's new Sports Minister.

The 42-year-old, who claimed gold in 1996 and 2000, has taken over the role from Chantal Jouanno following her resignation last week.

Douilett entered government in June after being appointed Secretary of State for French nationals abroad.

One of his major objectives during his term will be overseeing the country's preparations for the European Football Championships in 2016.
