Newcastle United make contact with Manchester United over a possible January move for Anthony Martial, according to a report.

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in bringing Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial to the club during the January transfer window.

A Saudi Arabian-backed takeover of Newcastle has now been completed, and the Magpies are expected to be active in the winter market due to their new status as one of the richest clubs in the world.

According to Stretty News, Steve Bruce's side have already been in contact with Man United to discuss the possibility of Martial arriving at the start of 2022.

The report claims that the Magpies have also started discussions with the France international's agent, but a number of Spanish clubs are also keeping a close eye on developments.

The 25-year-old has dropped further down the pecking order at the club following Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival over the summer, but he was on the scoresheet against Everton in his team's last match on October 2.

Martial, who still has three years left to run on his contract at Old Trafford, has scored 79 goals and registered 50 assists in 265 appearances for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in all competitions.
