Manchester United could attempt to sell as many as five first-team players in January, according to a report.

Manchester United could reportedly attempt to sell as many as five first-team players during the January transfer window.

Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will allegedly have £70m to spend at the start of 2022 if the club are in a position to challenge for the Premier League title.

However, the books will have to be balanced by outgoings, and according to The Sun, five underperforming players could leave Old Trafford at the turn of the year.

The report claims that Donny van de Beek, Anthony Martial, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones and Jesse Lingard may all be placed up for sale during the January window.

Solskjaer is reportedly frustrated that Man United were unable to bring a new central midfielder to Old Trafford over the summer, as the Norwegian continues to struggle to find the right balance in the middle.

The 20-time English champions will be looking to bounce back from Saturday's 4-2 defeat to Leicester City when they take on Atalanta BC in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
