Manchester United make it clear that Scott McTominay will not be allowed to leave Old Trafford this month, according to a report.

Manchester United have reportedly made it clear that Scott McTominay will not be allowed to leave Old Trafford during the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old has again been a regular for the Red Devils during the 2022-23 campaign, making 21 appearances, scoring twice and contributing one assist in the process.

McTominay has featured on 12 occasions in the Premier League, but he has only started six times, with the Scotland international down the pecking order.

Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes are all ahead of McTominay in the thinking of Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag, while Fred started ahead of him in Saturday's Manchester derby.

There has been speculation surrounding McTominay's future in recent days, with a number of clubs believed to be interested in his signature.

Everton, Southampton, Leeds United, West Ham United, Newcastle United and Leicester City have all been linked with the Scot's signature since the January window opened.

However, according to 90min, Man United made it clear that McTominay is not for sale this month.

The report claims that the 20-time English champions will also not entertain any loan offers for the midfielder, as Ten Hag wants to keep his squad together for the rest of the season.

McTominay has now made 191 appearances for Man United, scoring 18 goals and registering five assists in the process, while he has a contract at the club until June 2025, with the option of a further 12 months.

The Scot played the full 90 minutes of last week's 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup, but he was back on the bench for the Manchester derby.

Man United are currently competing in four competitions, and they will play another four times before the end of the month, facing Crystal Palace and Arsenal in their next two league matches.

Ten Hag's side will then take on Nottingham Forest in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final before welcoming Reading to Old Trafford in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

February, meanwhile, will open with the second leg of their League Cup last-four clash with Forest.

Man United will also face Barcelona in the Europa League knockout round playoffs next month, so Ten Hag will have to utilise his squad in the coming weeks.

McTominay joined the Red Devils youth system at the age of five, progressing through the various youth sides before debuting for the first team in 2017.
