Monaco tell Manchester United that they will have to offer £40m to stand a chance of signing Benoit Badiashile, according to a report.

Monaco have reportedly told Manchester United that they will have to offer £40m to stand a chance of signing Benoit Badiashile during this summer's transfer window.

The Red Devils are expected to move for a new centre-back in the upcoming market, with Phil Jones and Eric Bailly potentially leaving the club in search of pastures new.

Badiashile has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford over the last year or so, and according to The Sun, the club had a £22m bid rejected for the defender in 2020.

The report claims that Ralf Rangnick's side are still interested in the Frenchman but will have to offer at least £40m to enter into contract discussions with him.

The 20-year-old has again been in strong form for Monaco during the 2021-22 campaign, making 20 appearances in all competitions, contributing one assist in the process.

West Ham United and Newcastle United are also both believed to be interested in the left-sided centre-back, who has been struggling to overcome a hamstring issue in recent weeks.

Badiashile - capped on nine occasions by France Under-21s - has a contract with his Ligue 1 club until June 2024.
