Man United 'confident of completing Longstaff deal'

Manchester United are reportedly convinced that they will add Sean Longstaff to their squad following Rafael Benitez's departure from Newcastle United.

Newcastle announced earlier this week that Benitez will leave St James' Park once his contract expires at the end of the month after reaching an impasse in negotiations.

According to the Metro, the uncertainty over who will become Newcastle's next manager has hindered their chances of persuading Longstaff to stay.

The 21-year-old, who only broke into the Magpies' first team last season, is said to be valued at £30m.

Man United are supposedly willing to stretch as far as £25m with their offer, which Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is expected to accept.

Daniel James completed a move to Old Trafford earlier this month and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will also officially join in the coming days.
