Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly rivalling one another for Porto midfielder Otavio, whose contract includes a €60m (£50.4m) release clause.

Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly rivalling one another for the signature of Porto midfielder Otavio.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed another strong season under Sergio Conceicao, banking five goals and 12 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.

Otavio's strong club form has also seen him enjoy an emergence into the Portugal setup since pledging his allegiance to Fernando Santos's side, and the midfielder scored one goal and set up another in his side's 3-1 World Cup 2022 playoff semi-final win over Turkey last week.

According to A Bola, both Man United and Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Otavio's development ahead of a possible summer bid, but the Portugal international will not arrive on the cheap.

The report adds that Otavio possesses a €60m (£50.4m) release clause in his Porto contract, which he extended until the summer of 2025 last year.

Otavio has amassed 24 goals and 61 assists in 228 games for Porto since arriving from Internacional in 2014, and Newcastle United have also been credited with an interest.
