Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka rejected the chance to join Manchester United on transfer deadline day, according to a report.

Martin Dubravka reportedly rejected the chance to join Manchester United on transfer deadline day as part of a deal that would have taken Dean Henderson to Newcastle United.

The Magpies are believed to have approached the Red Devils in the final stages of the January transfer window to discuss taking Henderson on loan for the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Man United were willing to accept Dubravka as part of the agreement, with the Slovakia international offered the chance to challenge David de Gea for the gloves at Old Trafford.

However, the report claims that the 33-year-old decided against moving to the Red Devils on loan, as he was not prepared to be a number two in the second half of the season.

Dubravka has made 11 appearances for the Magpies this term, including the team's last three Premier League matches against Watford, Leeds United and Everton.

Henderson, meanwhile, started Friday's FA Cup clash with Middlesbrough but was back on the bench for Tuesday's league contest with Burnley at Turf Moor.
