David de Gea back on Real Madrid wishlist after Kepa Arrizabalaga transfer blow?

David de Gea back on Real Madrid wishlist?

Real Madrid's failure to land Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao may see them make a fresh approach for Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, according to a report.

Spain international Kepa has officially agreed a new seven-and-a-half-year deal at San Mames, which contains a £70.5m release clause.

Madrid are now expected to give up hope of signing the 23-year-old, who was seen as a realistic target after being quoted mammoth prices for the likes of compatriot De Gea and Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois.

The Mirror suggests that Los Blancos are now watching developments regarding a new deal for De Gea closely, as they could be tempted to make another offer in the summer, three years after a deadline-day move was blocked by paperwork.

Speaking last week, the former Atletico Madrid stopper remained tight-lipped when probed on talk of a new contract being placed on the table.
