Benfica keen on Manchester United midfielder

Benfica are reportedly considering making an offer for Manchester United midfielder Anderson.

The 24-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot at Old Trafford since joining from Benfica's rivals Porto during the summer of 2007.

As a result, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is said to be willing to allow the Brazilian to leave Old Trafford for the right price.

That news has alerted Benfica, who are seeking a replacement for wantaway midfielder Alex Witsel, according to reports in Portugal.

Some speculation has even claimed that Benfica would consider using Witsel as bait to land Anderson.
