Team News: Chris Smalling returns for Manchester United ahead of derby against Manchester City

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling returns to the Red Devils' starting lineup against Manchester City in Sunday afternoon's derby at Old Trafford.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has made one change ahead of this afternoon's derby against Manchester City at Old Trafford.

Chris Smalling, who was sent off in the reverse fixture at the Etihad back in November, has overcome an illness to take his place in the Red Devils' starting XI in place of Marcos Rojo.

Meanwhile the Citizens see two changes to their lineup as Pablo Zabaleta and James Milner start ahead of Bacary Sagna and Edin Dzeko, with Sergio Aguero leading the line in front of a five-man midfield.

Man Utd: De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Jones, Blind, Carrick, Fellaini, Herrera, Mata, Young, Rooney
Subs: Valdes, Rafael, Rojo, McNair, Januzaj, Di Maria, Falcao

Man City: Zabaleta, Kompany, Demichelis, Clichy, Fernandinho, Toure, Navas, Milner, Silva, Aguero
Subs: Caballero, Mangala, Kolarov, Fernando, Nasri, Lampard, Dzeko
