Monday's papers: Man Utd move for Kante, PSG want Jorginho, Spurs join King race

N'Golo Ngolo Kante has become a surprise addition to the football rumour mill.

What the papers say

Manchester United have made a surprise move towards luring midfielder N’Golo Kante from Chelsea, the Daily Mirror reports. United have contacted Kante’s advisers about a move, but the deal will hinge on the France star accepting a pay cut from his £300,000-a-week salary. Chelsea have spent £200m this transfer window and are reportedly open to selling. Kante is also attracting interest from his former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte at Inter Milan.

Another midfielder who could be making his way out of Chelsea is Jorginho. The Daily Mail reports the 28-year-old has become a player of interest to Paris St-Germain, who are seeking to secure the Brazilian-Italian on loan. Jorginho was taken off in Chelsea’s first two games and dropped for Saturday’s draw at West Brom. Competition for midfield places at Chelsea is hot following the arrival of Kai Havertz this season.

Juan Mata and Andreas Pereira could be on their way from Manchester United to Lazio, according to The Sun. The Rome club are set to table a bid for 32-year-old Mata and 24-year-old Pereira, having missed out in their move for Manchester City’s David Silva last month. United are believed to have entered talks over Brazilian Pereira, while Mata – who has fallen down Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pecking order – is thought to be also in the mix.

Tottenham are set to swoop for Bournemouth striker Josh King, The Daily Telegraph reports. Jose Mourinho is eager to sign another forward to help support Harry Kane, and Norwegian King is top of their list. Newly relegated Bournemouth have said they will not stand in the way of players wanting Premier League moves. King drew interest from Aston Villa earlier in the transfer window in a mooted bid worth £16m.

Leicester are set to table a move for Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer, according to Football Insider. The high-flying Foxes are keen to bolster their defence and the 23-year-old has come into their sights after talks over deals for St Etienne’s Wesley Fofana and Burnley’s James Tarkowski bore no fruit. Bremer is also a target for Everton.
