Robin van Persie says that the "little boy inside him" was screaming for him to join Manchester United.

Robin van Persie has insisted that there are "no hard feelings" with Arsenal fans regarding his transfer to Manchester United.

The Dutchman finalised his move to Old Trafford today, becoming the first player that Arsene Wenger has sold to the Red Devils during his reign in North London.

After eight years with the Gunners, Van Persie said that he is now looking forward to the next chapter in his career.

"It's an honour to sign for Manchester United," said the 29-year-old. "I am proud to be here.

"I am looking forward to following in the footsteps of so many great strikers, bringing my experience and playing my part to help the team compete for the biggest trophies in the game.

"When I have to make tough decisions in my life, I listen to the little boy inside me. That little boy was screaming 'Manchester United'. From my side and Arsenal's side, there is no hard feeling. No one is angry with me and I'm not angry with them."

Van Persie has been given the number 20 shirt for the upcoming season.
