Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick said that he decided to start Nemanja Matic in Saturday's Premier League clash with Everton due to the Serbian's ball-playing abilities.
Scott McTominay's absence with a foot problem opened up a spot in the middle of the park, and Matic will feature in that area of the field alongside Bruno Fernandes and Fred.
Paul Pogba is the player to miss out, and Rangnick has explained his reasons for selecting the France international among the substitutes.
"I had to choose between him and Pogba and I decided to start with Nemanja, as a holding six he's one of the best players we have in possession of the ball so that's why I went with him," Rangnick told MUTV.
Cristiano Ronaldo has also returned to the side after missing out against Leicester City through illness.
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford, Alex Telles, Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have also been introduced into the XI, with the side showing six changes from the 1-1 draw with Leicester.
