Man United's Juan Mata: 'Louis van Gaal is always honest with his players'

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has insisted that manager Louis van Gaal is always "honest and straight" with his players.

The Dutchman, who took over at Old Trafford last year, has a reputation of being strict in the dressing room, but Mata has revealed that he will also give players a "kiss and a hug" when they perform well.

"He is honest and straight," Mata told Spanish radio station Onda Cero. "If he has something bad to tell you he tells you to your face, but he will also give you a kiss and a hug if you have done something right.

"I like him as a coach but it is important to me that my coaches are good people too and he is. What you see is what you get with him."

United are currently third in the Premier League table, two points behind leaders Manchester City following five wins, one draw and two defeats.
