Manchester United could equal a club-record run which has stood for 130 years when they take on Newcastle United.

Manchester United could equal a club-record run which has stood for 130 years when they take on Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday night.

The team's travel plans for the match at St James' Park were altered when their flight, which was due to depart at 11am on Saturday morning from Manchester, had to be cancelled due to the weather.

Man United's players and staff instead headed to the north-east on a three-hour coach journey, and they will be aiming to continue their strong run of form in the Premier League against Eddie Howe's side.

Erik ten Hag's team have won five of their last six matches in England's top flight, including their last three against Fulham, Luton Town and Everton.

The team's strong run of form has seen them move into sixth position in the table, just four points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.

None of Man United's last 20 Premier League games have ended in a draw, recording 13 wins and losing seven.

Only on one occasion throughout their history have they had a longer run without a draw, which proved to be 21 matches during the 1893-94 campaign.

The Red Devils will be seeking their ninth league success of the campaign on Saturday, and a win could see them move above Tottenham Hotspur into fifth position in the division.

The 20-time English champions will enter the match off the back of a 3-3 draw with Galatasaray in the Champions League on Wednesday, which has left their last-16 hopes hanging by a thread.

"It's a very good team, very good mentality, so we have to play our best to get the points there. But, of course, that's the objective and we are in a great position," Ten Hag told MUTV ahead of the contest.

"We are in a good position now in the table and we're smelling the top four, so we have to get there. So then you have to win big games. It's not going to be easy. We know that they will be highly motivated against us, but we have to match that. And not only match that, but do even more.

"I think, for every club, it's a key month. But yeah, we have to go game by game and we can take belief, as I said in your previous questions, from what's behind us, that we are in a good direction in the future as a team.

"For instance, Harry Maguire. And when we build on that belief and we keep both feet on the ground, then I'm sure a lot will come and we have to build on from this."

Man United will welcome Marcus Rashford back into their squad for Saturday's clash, with the Englishman missing out against Galatasaray due to a European suspension.
