Sam Allardyce: 'I want Manchester United job'

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce says that he has always dreamt of managing Manchester United.

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has revealed that he harbours ambitions to manage Manchester United at some point in the future.

The 60-year-old is expected to leave Upton Park when his contract expires in the summer, with Rafael Benitez among those reported to replace him.

Allardyce, who joined the Hammers in 2011, says that it has always been a dream of his to take charge of the Red Devils after spending time at Old Trafford as a fan.

"I think that if I said West Ham wasn't a dream club to have managed then I'd be in trouble with the West Hams fans [and] it has been a dream club to have managed," he told BT Sport.

"But there's always been one and that's Manchester United so when I was trying to get promotion with Bolton to the First Division I always used to go and watch Manchester United play at Old Trafford.

"And playing at Old Trafford myself and going there as a manager I think in this country that was the one."

United sit third in the Premier League table in what has been Louis van Gaal's first season at the helm.
