Michael Carrick tells his Manchester United teammates that they cannot afford to be "gung-ho" in Tuesday's Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

Michael Carrick has insisted that Manchester United cannot afford to be "gung-ho" in Tuesday's Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

United welcome Madrid to Old Trafford for the second leg of their last-16 tie after a 1-1 draw in the Spanish capital three weeks ago.

"We cannot be too gung-ho," The Express quotes Carrick as saying. "I don't think we will, though, and I don't think they will.

"Both teams will have to defend well with the strike power they've got. You must have a complete game in many respects."

The Red Devils come into the match having beaten Norwich City 4-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.
