Team News: Gabriel Jesus, Ilkay Gundogan start as Manchester City host Southampton

Jesus, Gundogan in Man City starting XI

Pep Guardiola has made two changes to his Manchester City starting XI ahead of their Premier League home game against Southampton on Wednesday night.

David Silva and Leroy Sane, who began Sunday's 2-1 win at Huddersfield Town, miss out on a starting spot, with the latter not even among the substitutes.

Gabriel Jesus and Ilkay Gundogan take Silva and Sane's places as the Citizens seek to win a 12th league game in a row.

Southampton, meanwhile, have made five changes from the team that beat Everton 4-1 on Sunday.

Maya Yoshida, Oriol Romeu, Mario Lemina, Nathan Redmond and Shane Long replace Steven Davis, Charlie Austin, Dusan Tadic, Sofiane Boufal and James Ward-Prowse, who does not even make the bench.

Manchester City: Ederson; Walker, Kompany, Otamendi, Delph; Gundogan, De Bruyne, Fernandinho; Sterling, Aguero, Jesus Subs: Bravo, Danilo, Mangala, Bernardo Silva, David Silva, Zinchenko, Diaz

Southampton: Forster; Soares, Yoshida, Hoedt, Van Dijk, Bertrand; Romeu, Hojbjerg, Lemina; Redmond, Long Subs: McCarthy, Davis, Austin, Tadic, Boufal, Gabbiadini, McQueen
