Gael Clichy calls upon his Manchester City teammates to increase their levels of fighting spirit in order to help them retain the Premier League title.

Manchester City full-back Gael Clichy has urged his teammates to rediscover the fighting spirit that helped them win the Premier League title last season.

The Citizens are currently second in the table and six points behind leaders and rivals Manchester United.

However, French international Clichy believes that it is a gap that his team can successfully bridge if they improve their battling qualities between now and the end of the season.

"The only thing we have been missing this year is probably a bit of spirit. From last season, people expect more from us - our fans, ourselves," he told the club's official website.

"We know the quality is there. We can score, we have seen it since the beginning of the season that we can score against any team, any time, but we just need this extra fighting spirit."

Clichy joined City in the summer of 2011 from fellow Premier League side Arsenal.
