Man City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Brighton & Hove Albion

Man City injury, suspension list vs. Brighton

Manchester City will be aiming to stretch their winning run across all competitions to seven matches when they welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to the Etihad Stadium for Wednesday's Premier League bout.

Pep Guardiola's side barely needed to hit second gear to cruise past Birmingham City 3-0 in the FA Cup at the weekend, with Phil Foden netting after Bernardo Silva's quickfire double.

City have also won their last three Premier League games on the bounce and currently occupy a spot in the top five of the table, and Guardiola's men could finish the gameweek as high as third if other results go in their favour.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Man City's injury and suspension news ahead of Wednesday's visit of Brighton.

Sergio Aguero

Status: Out Type of injury: Self-isolating Possible return date: Unknown

Sergio Aguero was slowly working his way back from a knee injury before coming into contact with someone who tested positive for coronavirus, and he is currently undergoing a period of self-isolation.

Raheem Sterling

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Fitness Possible return date: January 13 (vs. Brighton)

Many fans thought that Raheem Sterling was simply rested against Birmingham, but City reported that the England international was left out because he was not "fully fit". However, Sterling is not believed to be carrying anything serious and should be fine for Wednesday.

Aymeric Laporte

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: January 20 (vs. Aston Villa)

Aymeric Laporte is nearing a return following a hamstring problem but was not ready to make his comeback against Birmingham. The centre-back will play no part here either, but Guardiola hopes to have him available in seven to 10 days.

Ferran Torres

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Coronavirus Possible return date: January 13 (vs. Brighton)

While Ederson was able to come back into the fold at the weekend after recovering from coronavirus, Ferran Torres was not included in the squad. However, the Spanish winger has returned to training and has a chance of being involved this week.

Eric Garcia

Status: Out Type of injury: Coronavirus Possible return date: Unknown

Wantaway defender Eric Garcia contracted coronavirus while recovering from a muscular injury and was not ready to face Birmingham - he is unlikely to be considered for this game even if he is fit with a move to Barcelona supposedly edging closer.

Tommy Doyle

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Coronavirus Possible return date: January 13 (vs. Brighton)

Tommy Doyle has also returned to training after a negative COVID-19 test and is ready to be called upon by Guardiola, but it would be a surprise to see the 19-year-old included either way.

Nathan Ake

Status: Out Type of injury: Fitness Possible return date: January 20 (vs. Aston Villa)

Nathan Ake's ongoing muscular problem kept him out of Sunday's comfortable victory over Birmingham, and Guardiola has conceded that the defender will not be fit in time for this game.

Scott Carson

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Coronavirus Possible return date: Unknown

Veteran goalkeeper Scott Carson has been isolating after testing positive for coronavirus and is not expected to be called upon on Wednesday.

Cole Palmer

Status: Out Type of injury: Coronavirus Possible return date: Unknown

Midfield protege Cole Palmer missed out on the chance to gain some valuable first-team experience after becoming another victim of City's coronavirus outbreak, and he remains in self-isolation.

MANCHESTER CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Man City have no players suspended for this match.
