Ashley Williams wants Liverpool over Arsenal?

Liverpool have become the frontrunners in the race to sign Swansea City defender Ashley Williams, according to reports.

The 28-year-old is also believed to be of interest to Arsenal, with a bid of £9m reportedly on the table.

However, The Mirror reports that the Welsh international would be keen on securing a move to the Reds - the club he supported as a boy.

The same paper believes that Brendan Rodgers wants to add two defenders to his squad this summer, with Jamie Carragher retiring and Sebastian Coastes heading for the exit door.

Vasco de Gama's Dede, Ajax's Toby Alderweireld and Feyenoord's Stefan de Vrij are also thought to be on his transfer shortlist.
