Report: Liverpool increase Vida bid to £20m

Liverpool have reportedly tabled an improved £20m offer for Croatia defender Domagoj Vida, but they are still some way short of Besiktas's asking price.

The Reds are understood to have been joined by Atletico Madrid and Sevilla in the race to sign the 29-year-old, who is valued at £30m by his club side.

According to reports in Turkey, carried by The Mirror, Liverpool have doubled down in their attempt to sign one of the World Cup's star players.

With demand at a high, though, having also been linked with Leicester City and Everton, Liverpool are likely to have their latest bid rejected.

A Besiktas spokesman is quoted by the publication as saying: "We have received offers for Vida and we are considering them but that does not mean he will definitely leave.

"Every player has a price, we will make a final decision in accordance with our budget and interests."

Vida played in six of Croatia's seven World Cup matches, including the full 90 minutes of Sunday's 4-2 defeat to France in the final.
