RB Leipzig 'have no plans to re-sign Naby Keita from Liverpool'

RB Leipzig reportedly have no plans to re-sign Naby Keita from Liverpool this summer due to the midfielder's wages, age and status as an established player.

RB Leipzig reportedly have no plans to re-sign Naby Keita from Liverpool this summer.

The 25-year-old has endured a stop-start career at Anfield so far, with injuries limiting him to just 34 Premier League appearances and 51 games across all competitions.

Keita has started just four Premier League matches this season, leading to speculation that Jurgen Klopp could look to offload him this summer in order to raise funds for alternative targets.

RB Leipzig have been touted as a possible destination for the Guinea international, who scored 17 goals in 71 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit before joining Liverpool.

However, Bild reports that Leipzig hold no interest in re-signing their former player due to three main reasons, the biggest of which being his wages.

Keita is thought to earn £120,000 per week on Merseyside, which is well outside Leipzig's budget, while the German club also favour signing players aged 24 or below.

The report also claims that Leipzig do not want to sign players who are already established at the top level, with their business model based on bringing in up-and-coming players and selling them on for profit.

Liverpool could yet do business with Leipzig this summer, though, with striker Timo Werner thought to be on Klopp's list of targets.
