Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly make contact over the potential availability of one of Monaco's star men ahead of the summer transfer window.

Liverpool are reportedly among the clubs contemplating whether to make an approach for Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche.

Having won the Premier League title, the Merseyside giants have switched their attention to strengthening their squad ahead of 2025-26.

As well as a deal for Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong seemingly progressing as Liverpool would like, they are also in the running for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez.

However, amid speculation regarding the futures of the likes of Harvey Elliott, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez, it is plausible that at least one new playmaker will be required to bolster the squad.

According to L'Equipe, Liverpool are interested in adding Akliouche to their ranks over the coming months.

Akliouche race to commence

Contact has allegedly already been made with the relevant people regarding a deal for the 23-year-old, even though Liverpool are said to be patient in their pursuit.

Akliouche, who is largely deployed as a right-winger which is the same position as Mohamed Salah, contributed seven goals and 12 assists from 42 outings in Ligue 1 and the Champions League this season.

Monaco are said to value the playmaker in the region of €60m (£50.7m), it unclear whether Liverpool would be prepared to go that high.

Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest have also reportedly opened discussions regarding a possible transfer, albeit that likely to be dependent on their results in the Europa League and Premier League this week.

European giant to remain as favourites?

The same outlet claims that Paris Saint-Germain remain as Akliouche's preferred destination if a deal can be negotiated between the Ligue 1 rivals.

However, PSG are said to be only willing to go as high as €50m (£42.3m) at the present time. It remains to be seen whether they would go higher with victory in the Champions League final.

With Monaco having qualified for next season's Champions League and the player's contract running until 2028, there is no certainty that Akliouche will be sold.
