Liverpool in Alexander Isak transfer boost as Newcastle United 'agree terms' with replacement

Newcastle have reportedly agreed personal terms with Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen as they look to bolster their attacking options before the deadline day.

The Magpies find themselves in a precarious position after their talisman marksman, Alexander Isak, went on strike, and as a result, Eddie Howe is currently without a recognised number nine at the club.

Isak has blamed Newcastle for breaking promises and has vowed not to play for them. Newcastle have rejected a massive bid from Liverpool for the Swedish striker, and they cannot sell him unless a proper replacement is found.

Howe wants to sign two strikers before the end of the window, especially with the uncertainty around Isak's situation, and their search has led them to target Larsen, who scored 14 goals last season in 35 Premier League games.

Newcastle agree personal terms for Larsen?

According to a report from the Express and Star, Newcastle have agreed personal terms with the Norway international, but they have not made any direct approach to Wolves for a move.

The 25-year-old striker joined Wolves from Celta Vigo last summer on loan and enjoyed a fantastic season, which has prompted the Premier League club to sign him permanently this summer for £23m.

The former Groningen striker is not agitating for a move, but at the same time, he is willing to test himself in the Champions League.

Wolves are demanding a fee of around £60m for the striker, which could be a major stumbling block. While they would be looking for a huge profit on Larsen, his departure would leave manager Vitor Pereira short of options up front.

Liverpool to receive boost in Isak chase?

The Reds are well-stocked in their forward areas, and they would probably change their transfer strategy if they find that Isak's situation has reached an impasse with Newcastle.

Federico Chiesa scored in the previous game against AFC Bournemouth, and the Italian could become a potent weapon under Arne Slot this season.

Newcastle missed out on Joao Pedro, Lima Delap, Hugo Ekitike, and Benjamin Sesko; all of these players moved to rival Premier League clubs, which adds to more frustration amid Isak's situation.

Isak is in isolation at Newcastle, awaiting another move from Liverpool, who have not made a second bid after their initial £110m offer was rejected.
